Gilford Doquila was born and raised in Cagayan de Oro City. After moving further south in Mindanao, in Davao, he completed his degree in BA English major in Creative Writing at the University of the Philippines Mindanao. Presently, he is teaching high school students in a Montessori school in Quezon City.
